Curriculum Guide

The Academy of Arts and Academics and Springfield Public Schools believe that student success is our most important outcome. At the center of the A3 program is a series of projects that students work on in teams in a class called Humaniqueries. Humaniqueries is a project-based block of classes that integrates the sciences, social studies, civics, and language arts. The course is required for all A3 students, each semester of all four years. 

All students will have the option to earn credit for demonstrating proficiency. This means that a student is given credit for successful demonstration of knowledge and skills that meets or exceeds defined levels of performance. 

This online guide includes detailed course descriptions, graduation requirements, college- and career-readiness pathways, and information to support thoughtful course selection aligned to each student’s goals and interests.

Academic Pathways at A3

At A3, students get to choose one of four specialized majors or a CTE Pathway that allow students to focus their learning on a specific sector or area of interest while meeting the requirements to graduate from secondary school. These programs assist students in gaining career specific skills and knowledge to help them with the transition to postsecondary, workplace or training for future careers. 

Students get to customize their high school experience, explore new ways of learning and get a headstart to their post-secondary destination of choice (apprenticeship, college, university or the workplace).
