Interactive Storytelling
Jenny and Melz 2023 J Term Class: Interactive Storytelling – Game Design/Neuroscience
Text-Based Adventures: Students created playable, text-based adventures. These are very much like a “choose your own adventure” style books, and give students a chance to write their own story for others to play. It also gave them a glimpse into the complexities of writing branching path stories, as opposed to those with a single path and ending.
Game Development: Students created and developed the concept for an original game. The goal was to create a presentation that could be pitched to a game development company or online crowdfunding platform, as if they were attempting to get their game made. Required components include a pitch, game objectives, overview of gameplay, characters, sample cards, board design, concept art, and rules.
